Wednesday, 28^th April 2004, at the Gozo Stadium, 4.45pm Zebbug Rovers FC faced Kercem Ajax FC, for the third round match of the Easyline GFA 1^st Division League.  Zebbug opened a five point lead at the top of the table and are now very close to win the championship for the first time in their history.  In this match they dominated their opponents and there was never any doubt where the three points were going.  They opened a three goal lead by the half time and added another two in the first quarter of the second period with Kercem only scoring a consolidation goal two minutes from time. Referee of the match was Mr Anton Zammit and his assistants were Mr Joe Agius and Mr George Portelli.

      Six minutes from kick off Zebbug already went close by Sylvan’s header after a cross by Leandro.  The goal came two minutes later from a free kick by Touali.  Kercem replied as after a personal action by Azzopardi, he passed to Tarik but Mario Azzopardi cleared to a corner in time before Tarik could conclude. 

     Zebbug went close again on the 16^th minute but Sylvan’s conclusion was blocked to a corner by Debrincat.  On the 24^th minute Leandro’s shot went wide.  Two minutes later Galea passed to Touali who concluded to the back of the net to give Zebbug a double lead.  On the 35^th minute Eboh scored the third goal.  Attard saved well on Leandro on the 40^th minute.  Zebbug went close again four minutes from the break as Leandro hit the bar.

     Zebbug secured their three points four minutes from restart.  Eboh crossed the ball and Philip Cardona’s first timer was unreachable for Attard.  Kercem replied by a free kick which Tarik shot wide.  On the 11^th minute Zebbug scored their fifth goal of the match.  Leandro’s shot was partially saved by Attard and from the rebound Sylvan Galea scored in an empty net.  Tha Zebbug controlled without any difficulty.  Kercem got a consolidation goal two minutes from stoppage time.  Xuereb partially saved Grech’s shot and from the rebound Draganov scored the sole goal for his team.
