Zebbug disappoint in their second consecutive draw Sunday 29th February, Gozo Stadium, 1.00pm – Easyline 1st Division GFA League. Zebbug Rovers dropped another two important points in their challenge for the title. Kercem took advantage from the fact that the leaders had some key players missing such as Cardona and Eboh. Zebbug were not penetrative as usual and they have to thank their solid defense that kept Kercem away from scoring. The first half was a very disappointing one with only two actions noticed. The second period was better although much more was expected from this match. Knowing that Zebbug were not in form, Kercem should have done better and with more attention by their strikers they could have broke the deadlock. Referees of the match were Mr Carmel Attard, Mr George Portelli and Mr Anton Zammit. The first period was very disappointing with both sets of defense controlling on the strikers. Much of the game was played in the middle of the pitch with both sides making basic errors. We could notice only two action, one on each side. On the 21st minute Elton Vella concluded just wide for Kercem. Than on the 34th minute Leandro’s free kick was concluded by Cini but Kercem defense cleared the danger by Camilleri. Although not so spectacular, the second half offered something more to the present supporters at the Gozo Stadium. Tarik went close in the opening minutes but his shot was saved by Xuereb. Two consecutive direct free kick on the other end, taken by Leandro went just wide. On the 14th minute Tauli’corner was headed by Sylvan Galea, Attard partially saved and from the rebound Cordina shot wide. Five minutes later on the other side of the pitch Sylvester concluded Bajada’s free kick but Xuereb saved without much difficulty. On the 22nd minute Cordina tried his luck from outside the box but his shot went wide. Five minute from time Sylvan’s header was saved by Attard. On the other side Draganov should have done better when he avoided his direct opponent and with only the goalie to beat he shot wide. In the last minutes of the game Kercem were more offensive but never concluded any shot and the final whistle gave each team a point.
