Zebbug Rovers and Xewkija Tigers played their second match of the Easyline GFA 1st Division League. On their first appearance Zebbug have impressed with a 3 nil win against Victoria Hotspurs while the Tigers drew against Sannat. Zebbug displayed another impressive match and scored three more goals in this match. For Xewkija this might be too harsh as at times during the match especially in the first half they were better than the opponents.
The first half was very balanced with the ball altering from one side to another. Both sides had their chances. Zebbug had chances by Leanardo, Cardona and Mahjoub while Xewkija responded by Sabri and Farrugia.
Zebbug opened the score on the 34th minute. Leanardo netted from a cross of Philip Cardona. After this goal Xewkija were more offensive but Zebbug went close again on the 39th minute when they hit the bar with the ball touching the goal line and cleared off.
In the second half Sylvan Galea who have entered instead of the injured Patrcick Camilleri lobbied on Debono, Xewkija goalie on the 21st minute and made the score read 2-0. Although Xewkija tried to enter back in the game, Zebbug were very compact in defense and were never in danger of loosing any point from this game. Before the final whistle they even extended their lead to 3 nil by John Obah from a cross of Mahjoub.
Zebbug Rovers FC are the team in form at the moment and they are the team to beat this season. They are the only team with maximum points and scored six goals without conceding any. This confirms their strength in every department.
