Zebbug flied to the top of the table with their third consecutive win which leaves them the only team with maximum nine points. Kercem suffered their first defeat of the season against the outstanding Zebbug. The only negative point of view for Zebbug was that they conceded the first goal of the season and for the first time they had to reverse the result to obtain the three points. Ironically, as they did in the first two matches (and also in the Noel Vassallo Cup Final) they scored three times even if they left the last goal for the injury time of the match.
Kercem could not have started this match on a better note as at the third minute they were already 1-0 up scored by their foreigner Draganov. Zebbug reacted immediately after this goal. Both sides had their chances but Zebbug made the score level at the 16th minute of the game. Obah scored the equalizer. At the 25th minute Zebbug were awarded penalty and their Brazilian Laendro did not miss from the spot to make the score read 2-1 in their favor.
The second half was balanced as well with Kercem trying to get their second goal while Zebbug controlled the situation to save their advantage. Kercem went close to make score level at the 38th minute but Draganov who have advanced to the Zebbug box, in front of Xuereb (Zebbug keeper), saw his shot hitting the post. Few minutes later Mario Azzopardi (Zebbug) was sent off but with ten men Zebbug controlled the result. In the injury time Leandro took a free kick which was partially saved by Attar and Sylvan Galea from the rebound netted the third goal for Zebbug to secure the three points and the leadership of the GFA 1st Division table. The referees of this match were Mr Carmel Attard, Mr Reno Refalo and Mr Vincent Cassar.
