end of summer fest at Marsalforn

      On Saturday 22nd September 2007, the Zebbug Local Council organized an End of Summer Fest, a soirée of local talent on the promenade at Marsalforn. A huge audience attended this event, which was also visited by tourists that happened to be at this popular bay of Gozo. Special guests of the evening there was the Saint Mary Band of Zebbug, Gozo that played marches through the main streets of Marsalforn. After Mayor Carmel Saliba presented a memento to George Cefai, President of St. Mary Band Club.

          An Interleague Waterpolo Tournament was held in the afternoon at the Otters ASC pitch. After the tournament Vice Mayor Joe Bajada presented medals to all participants.

          During the evening event, which was presented by Joe Bajada, established and emerging artists took to the stage and delighted the crowd with their songs. Among the singers present one could find Rebecca Bonello, Terry Ann Saliba, Matthew Cini, Angie Marie Formosa, Godwin Cini and the Band, Diana Formosa, Joseph Refalo and Natan. The soiree started with The Gozo Children’s Choir under the direction of established singer Miriam Christine Borg.

            The event also had the participation of many dance groups from the High Energy Dancers, Annette Mystic Dancers School, Gozo Friends Line Dancers and Gozo Line Dancers. They all performed to other musical pieces.

          The soiree came to an end with a speech from the Mayor Carmel Saliba. All the participants that took place were given a commemorative memento of the occasion. Presentations were made by Mayor Carmel Saliba, Vice Mayor Joe Bajada and Councillor Victor Refalo.
